I grew up in a town about 80 miles from where the story is set, and in the 1970's. The cars and dwellings are right, the scenery is spot on, and the characters are authentic. I can't speak to whether it follows the books accurately, but watching the series is like revisiting the Navajo lands as I remember them. I really love this show.
