PUNCH LINE FIRST: Movie was an insult and an offense to Republicans/conservatives' sensibilities. I walked out of the theater. BTW, can anyone believe that movie tickets are $15? After 20-minutes, I walked away from $30. My wife wasn't too happy, but I couldn't stand it anymore.
Had it been described as one of the greatest comedies of 2018, I would have stayed and watched. BUT, I knew it wasn't being positioned as a comedy.
If 50% of what was portrayed in the movie is believed to be accurate by the viewing audience, then the movie's creators (and Hollywood) have accomplished their objective. Don't buy it everyone. This movie is a joke, and if you believe 50% of the story line as fact, then the joke is on YOU.
The above said, Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Steve Carell are amazing at their craft. I've not seen a movie where I didn't love their work. They had to be laughing during their initial reading of the script, and during rehearsal. BUT...this movie...ugh...awful.
