I don’t think I can finish this. I just cannot stand female leads who are this stupid and this ruled by their hormones. I know what’s coming and it has me raging … she’s going to fall in love with her stalker who is clearly a psychopath. Enemies-to-lovers can work if the enemy is at least somewhat redeemable or if there is some kind of reasoning behind it. This is more like Stockholm syndrome.
The main male character is not morally gray; he’s morally black. End of story. She should have purchased a gun and shot him multiple times by the time he actually makes it into her house to “punish” her. The fact that she goes searching for him instead of calling the police (and why the FBI isn’t involved yet is silly) has me wishing natural selection were more effective. The fact that she engages in hide and seek with him instead of going straight out the door is ridiculous. I’m not even rooting for her anymore.
On the plus side, the writing is decent. If you like the whole enemies-to-lovers trope and don’t mind stupid women who become “intoxicated” by a man’s smell to the point of paralysis, then this might be the book for you. I just keep screaming obscenities at my phone at this point.
This chick is the epitome of every dumb blonde who goes to investigate the sound in the basement after hearing about the escaped murderer on the loose.
The fact that the author and her fans continually justify the non consensual scenes because the female character ends up getting off speaks volumes about why women have such a difficult time coming forward about SA.
