Another River Phoenix masterpiece! A film that gets better and better the more you empathise with the characters. Eddie, who doesn't seem so nice at first, can subtly be seen lowering his wall and showing vulnerability when around Rose. She is a hopeful dreamer that sees the soft side of Eddie that others may not. Being set before and after the Vietnam War, you are able to see the growth of the character's identities as well as their relationship. It also portrays the mental, emotional, and physical toll the war played on many, if not most, of the soldiers. As well as the struggle to voice those difficulties. I truly love this movie and recommend it!
