Jungle Cruise was an incredibly dull film, which is surprising given that it moves so fast you can’t keep up with the shoe-string plot. Paul Giamatti at times simply forgot his accent, and Jesse Plemmons had the worst German accent in the entirety of cinema. Not one single person fit their role. Which was unfortunate because they all clearly wanted to, except Paul, he was clearly cashing a paycheck. I realize Dwayne Johnson has a nostalgic reason for wanting this part, but he just didn’t fit. Literally- this film somehow made him look shorter and less muscular than he is. He and Blunt had zero chemistry, instead substituting overt bedroom eyes. And I get the ride is known for puns, but Johnson delivered them like he was actually working on the ride at the end of a twenty hour shift. Just a slog of disappointment. And stop the obvious 3-D moments, they don’t contribute.
