This movie is going to make some white people uncomfortable. Good. The torture and mutilation of Emmet Till (all off-camera) was an incredibly ugly chapter in American history. But this is a very well-done film focusing on Till's mother Mamie, who would become a civil rights leader. Danielle Deadwyler's performance as Mamie is, by turns, in your face and nuanced. It is Oscar-worthy, as is the film. That it was not nominated in any category is shameful.
