Good Ship Murder is what I'd call a cozy mystery. The Mediterranean scenery is outstandingly gorgeous. Shayne Ward's singing is great. I'd wish they'd have him sing more that one song at the end. In the plot, Shayne's character is an ex homicide inspector from Manchester, UK, named Jack. He's divorced with a teenage daughter back in Manchester. Ever since he was little he's wanted to sing. So, he lands this gig on a cruise ship. In every lovely Mediterranean port, there is a murder of one of the ship's passengers. Of course being an ex homicide inspector, he must get involved in solving the murder. He's assisted by first mate, Kate. As in any typical show, there's that romantic tension between Kate and Jack--will they, or won't they? I'm from the U.S. and not familiar with who Shayne Ward is in real life; he is the winner of the second season of X Factor. He's released a few albums that were hits in the U.K., and he's done some TV acting. No he's not Laurence Olivier, but his acting is quite adequate. He brings a tad bit of humor to this cozy mystery. I find it entertaining without being too serious. It doesn't push any political or social agendas, which is refreshing since we get enough of that on the news. There's no foul language a sometimes a bet of blood, which makes it fairly family friendly.. It's a good cozy mystery, who's main character is easy on the eyes and can make you smile and want to dance when he sings his songs.
