Wow. Why so much hate?
The much-re-pasted hate-encouraging feedback criticizes negatively the book's plot slightly more than the movie itself. It also reveals that commentators (who reposted) rather expect movies to be entertained by watching ideals, rather than to be triggered to question societal conditions.
Personally, I loved the unusual and creative, provoking, style of filming with much normalcy from daily life and of how things would, in fact, really happen in such case scenario.
In the reality of life, there is no background warning music, nor a high-level vision of what is going on elsewhere to provide perspective to one's realizations. And THIS is precisely what the movie does. It takes the audience to how it would happen as an experiencer.
For the characters to behave like some people think they should, they would have to have access to our, observer's perspective. Which no one does in a situation like this.
I enjoyed this movie very much and do not mind if no one agrees with me. I enjoy that a variety of movie styles can be produced and provide thought-provoking exercises.
Wishing everyone a beautiful day.
