I don't normally post reviews but I feel that I have to with this one. This review has spoilers so don't read it unless you've watched the show... I have been watching anime for over a decade now and this anime stands out to me as the most emotional one yet, it is my fav anime of all time, ever, ever. The reason for this is because this anime is not for everyone, not everyone will get it not because they are stupider but because it's not for them. Some people will obviously complain and criticize Lucy for her behavior and the ton of gore and nudity in the show, but it holds very little criticism to the actual story. Again everyone has their own opinion and towards what they are moved to or not but the point of the story isn't that complicated. It basically shows you what the manifestation of abuse and oppression can do to a person who since their childhood been hated for looking a little different. Unloved, left alone, alienated, no food, no actual love. Treated as a weapon of mass killing. Everyone she actually loves and gets along with drifting away from her and even hating her. It's not to show that the world is a cruel place but to also show that some people aren't that lucky to receive lifetime love and support by others when they really need it. I feel the reason some people Also don't like this anime is because of lucy's child-like behavior as "nyu" but that's just another misconception. The reason she is like this is because this is what she wanted to become so bad but failed and split personalities because of many built up anger and hatred inside her. If anything it makes her very relatable to everyone of us that this is what often happens to all of us we sometimes or most of the times are lost in the feelings and we don't really get any support for it and are left alone with these feelings unable to actually hide them anymore. This anime is genuinely a heavily misunderstood masterpiece.
