Joaquin Phinix delivers a terrific performance. The "Joker" not only evokes fear, desperation and sadness, but also compassion. He is pathetic and lovable. You can feel the confusion and the burden of his disorganised emotions and thoughts, which ultimately pull you into his psychotic down spiral. You identify with him, not as a person but as a human being. He makes you aware of how devastating having a mental condition can it be. Even though the movie doesn't bring anything new, it puts very well in perspective the many aspects of our psyche psyche including the eternal strugle inside each one of us, the fight with the Self.
