Superman 2025 — A Disappointing Departure from the True Hope
As one of the most iconic and beloved characters in pop culture, Superman has always symbolized hope, morality, and protection of the innocent. Watching Superman 2025 left me frustrated and disheartened because it seems James Gunn’s script fundamentally misunderstands what Superman stands for.
The most painful part is the blatant disregard for innocent lives. In the movie, Superman watches as innocent people are harmed or killed, even at times laughing off the death of one, while choosing to protect Lex Luthor — a proven villain responsible for countless crimes. This inversion of values is not just disappointing; it is an outright betrayal of Superman’s core ideals. How can the so-called “hope” of humanity justify sacrificing millions to save a single villain?
The movie tries to paint this as “mature” or “nuanced,” but in reality, it’s lazy writing and shallow shock value disguised as complexity. If Superman truly upheld morality, he would never tolerate innocent people dying while villains roam free. The idea that killing Lex Luthor would make Superman “dark” is absurd. On the contrary, failing to stop a mass murderer makes Superman complicit in the destruction.
This trend of glorifying villains while normalizing the death of innocents is a dangerous direction not only for superhero stories but for culture itself. Movies like these risk sending the wrong message: that the ends justify the means, that clever criminals deserve admiration, and that innocent lives are collateral damage.
For me, this Superman is unrecognizable — not the beacon of hope I grew up admiring but a character weakened by poor moral choices and misguided storytelling. If this is the future of Superman, I feel only disappointment and frustration. He should inspire us to protect the innocent, challenge evil smartly, and embody true heroism — not accept mass suffering as collateral damage.
I hope future stories bring back the Superman we deserve: the protector of the innocent and a true symbol of hope.
