I've been a fallout fan ever since I first played 3 in 2012 as a kid, this show, while not perfect, blew things out of the park.
The initial episode made me worried for the story due to the "___ has left the vault, so ____ leaves." Cliché of the Bethesda games, but this execution is by far the best. The show included details that were fantastic and the characters had actual growth over the 8ish hour run.
My major gripes (and the reasons I don't give the show 5 stars) comes down to the execution of the BoS, they were never like glorified cultist raiders (though they were verging on it, they still believed in protecting people to some extent and were a lot more militant than cultish in the games), they had a missed shot with the Enclave but I see this show getting a second season where the Enclave will most likely have a larger role, and the NCR, oh boy the NCR. They fell from grace hard.
On top of this I found the first half of the show rocky, and struggled to enjoy Maximus as a character until he met Lucy.
However the second half of the show is phenomenal, with amazing character arks, twists me and my friend weren't expecting and the canonisation of one of the biggest fan theories in the games history. The execution of Lucy, Maximus and Cooper as characters was perfection in my eyes on top of this.
Overall, Fallout is the best video game adaptation I've ever seen, however it's first episode and parts from Episodes 2 and 3 drags it down a little bit. Definitely a must see if you enjoy the games, and a good watch any non fan can pick up and get invested into.
I can't wait to see where this goes.
