My first entry into the franchise, and one that will have me going back for a few others. It has brilliant storytelling, and despite pulling on some pretty obvious historical and cultural tropes (Crusade's era political arrangements, with a capital that is clearly trying to borrow from Charlemagne-era structures; and calling one of the Eikon's 'Odin') it doesn't feel particularly cheesy or cringey in doing so.
It also doesn't overdo a lot of often offputting themes I find in other games (such as DMC having a bit too much on the darkness and violence etc).
Thoroughly enjoyable.
