After the first two episodes I thought it was ... OK. Certainly not bad, but nowhere near the level of "Band of Brothers" and "The Pacific," Those two series grabbed my attention in the first half hour, with both story and characters, and never let it go. This one hasn't done so yet. The stories are fine so far, but the characters are average and a bit indistinguishable. There's no standout character, no Dick Winters or Bill Guarnere or Don Malarkey, nor Robert Leckie or Eugene Sledge or "Snafu" Shelton. All we've got so far is Pilot Elvis, his best buddy who's a jerk when drunk, and an airsick navigator. It's only two episodes in, so it's way too early to make a call one way or another. But as someone who who has been looking forward to this ever since I heard about it, I sure hope it gets better.
