This show, much like Yellowstone, falls short of expectations. While the overview claims it’s about the oil industry, it only briefly touches on the subject, instead focusing heavily on unrelated and over-the-top drama. From nursing home residents at strip clubs with what seems to be high schoolers to military bombings involving a cartel, it’s hard not to wonder why we continue giving Taylor Sheridan the confidence to deliver yet another lackluster project. For those who enjoy this show and believe it’s well-written, your opinion may not be the most reliable gauge of quality storytelling.
