The best haunted house movie ever made.

I recently re watched this film. I knew immediately the first time Shannon was a talent to watch out for. I like films set in the South where people talk slow and deliberate. Dialogue is sparse but witty. The action is slow, building tension as it goes. Cinematography is always a highlight drawing you in and suffocating you. This is a great film. A cult classic as far as I'm concerned.

Average film elevated by a typically masterful score by John Barry. Very moving.

Some real iconic scenes in this. I love the scene when the Jamaican's are jiving to Prince Buster just before the Mexican hit.

Gosling puts in a brilliant performance as Neil Armstrong. Only an actor that good could play such & straight emotionless character. Foy for me steals the show as his suffering wife. The scene where Armstrong's son extends his hand to him before he goes is v poignant. No doubt he was a very focused man but not much of a father it seems.
