I have been listening to metalcore and its various sub genres for almost 20 years. I am 30 now. I grew up in its peak popularity and in its decline. This album touched me and has meant more than anything I’ve heard in the past decade. It has the urgency and emotion of underoaths lost in the sound of separation. From the self referencing lyrics to the pacing of the album as an entirety, it’s classic. There are no modern metal bands that are touching this. If August Burns red can get a Grammy, these guys certainly deserve it for this album.
