As far as language goes, Rebecca Makkai is an excellent writer. But where was her editor? Due to its subject matter, “I have some Questions for You,” should have been a good and suspenseful read. Sadly it wasn’t. Too many names of characters we never meet make it bulky and boring. The story, which could have been fascinating, never gets off the ground. (Again, where was her editor?) Before we even arrive at the middle, it begins to sag and become tedious. Goes round and round without getting anywhere. Not a book I would ever recommend. In fact, I’m shocked that it was even published in its current state.
