Just watched Kalki 2898 and wow, what an incredible movie! The visual effects were truly groundbreaking for Indian Cinema. If I were to rate Marvel movies' visual effects at a 10, then Kalki would definitely come in at a solid 8.5. The only other Indian films with comparable VFX were Shah Rukh Khan's Ra.One and the butterfly dance sequence in Baahubali: The Beginning, which I'd rate at a 7.
The story of Kalki 2898 was absolutely captivating. The way they blended mythology with science fiction to create the character of Kalki was brilliant. It reminded me a lot of Shekhar Kapur's Ramayana 3392 AD. Kudos to Nag Ashwin for delivering such a masterpiece.
Of course, there's still room for improvement. For the next part, I hope they take their time to perfect it and aim for a 10. Some scenes were absolutely top-notch, like the Supreme Leader Yaskin Entry, Amitabh Bachchan's huge form, The Mahabharat scene, Lord Krishna Entry and the final showdown with Bujji.
However, the de-aging effects for Amitabh Bachchan still need some work, and the fight scenes could be more seamless and polished.
Overall, I rate the movie an 8.3. Can't wait for the next part!
