I enjoyed reading this book despite it being something I read for college assignments. Considering she’s from Jamestown and a servant from England, where sickness runs rampant, the girl's struggles and ending were to be expected. As someone who wouldn’t willingly pick up a book relating to historical fiction, it is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever read. People who always expect happy endings are welcome to disagree, but it just shows reality. Not everything needs to be a happy ending to be poetic and carry an obvious message. And those who say the mentions of Christianity was the authors pushing their beliefs on them, obviously hasn’t finished the book. 🤷🏽♀️
