There are some great underlying themes in this very memorable and meaningful movie. Eastwood rarely disappoints as an actor or as a director, but this is a standout effort on his part. Bravo!

This is my favorite "Sound of Music" performance. Best Elsa Schraeder ever. I generally prefer staged versions over the movie because they include "No Way to Stop It" and "How Can Love Survive," both of which really help move the plot along and are delightful numbers.
