The documentary starts off as predicted and shows ex Facebook, Twitter and other engineers voicing their concerns over the behemoth they are involved in making.
The documentary has a lot of valid points but to what extent can they manipulate elections? Unless all of the voters are actively on Facebook and that goes for 70, 80 and 90 year olds too, I find it a bit too far fetched. Ok, I agree that people can be manipulated but to the extent the film applies, I'm skeptical.
Facebook is a purveyor of fake news, that is true, but the continuous cancelling of opinions because it doesn't match the liberal narrative is most concerning. Ordinary and famous people are being deleted off social media platforms for voicing a different opinion but Facebook and Twitter would have you believe a whole new narrative.
Who fact checks Facebook and Twitter? Nobody really does although they swear blind that their third party fact checkers are completely unbiased. A small child can see what these Social Media giants are doing. It limited itself to calling Pizzagate a conspiracy theory where there is much more to it than just a hashtag.
I would have liked to see more opinions on why social media cancels out conservative views but it failed to touch on the really interesting points.
A great movie to cement our views on what we already know about toxic companies like Google and Social Media that sell our data and use it to sell us out 24/7 but the documentary failed dismally to really address some of the problems we have seen over the past 4 years. Close, but no cigar I'm afraid!
