Best way to describe Gintama to Western Audiences is probably to say it is the Japanese version of Rick and Morty...or maybe South Park. But that's like saying Kabuki is Japanese Broadway, or that the Samurai were the Japanese version of English Knights. Same concept, but vastly different in execution/results. Regardless, I think this is the best anime of all time.
