I didn't read Harry Potter books, so I'm not from the "the books are so much better" (surprise) camp. The movie was entertaining, suspenseful and magical. Now, as to whether or not it remained "loyal" to the Harry Potter series / inspiration, I can't say, but it's definitely worth going to the movies, and being taken to a whole 'nother reality for a few hours. Oh, it goes well with popcorn too.
