So, I am a huge supernatural fan, but as someone who falls in love with TV shows both old and new I have learned something very very very important. That you have to approach each show with clear glasses. I did NOT do this with Hawaii 5-0 new and it almost ruined it for me. I had to learn to approach the show as if I had never ever seen every single episode of the original (3x). Now I like it and find it entertaining. I think you need to do the same thing with this, disregard supernatural (as much as it hurts me to say that) and disregard the old Walker. Approach this show as exactly what it is, a CW drama. You also need to keep in mind that the network has rules, guidelines and regulations to follow for the writing. Both Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles speak of this often. It is not like a streaming service. Networks have regulations and that is just the fact of how things are. If you watch a network show there will be guidelines.
With all this in mind this show is excellent. I never once went "ohh that's Sam" I didn't go into thinking it was an action show like the old one, or a dark mysterous show like a lot of others on the network. I approached it for what it was and honestly I wasn't dissapointed. It has a drama, good actors, and is well filmed. The story is deep and takes a bit to really get action like but hey that is current drama TV. It kind of reminds me of Longmire with how the story flows.
So all I have to say is give this a chance to be what it is and not something else. Don't go into it expecting it to be Supernatural or Walker texas ranger. Let this show just exist as it is with no preconcived notions and I bet if you like TV drama you will like this show.
