As one of the assistant manager of the Saigon branch in its final days, I was tasked with the extremely heartbreaking job of picking which staff, including his/ her family to join in the evacuation . Of the total number of 113, including family members, only half was allowed to board the first flight due to limited space. And there was no hope at that point the rest of the branch could be evacuated. That “ lucky” first group picked to go only had 2 hours to go home , pack a small bag , and get to the meeting point. Many tears in those short minutes saying goodbye to loved ones without hope of ever seeing them again.
