Poor character development and lackluster storyline. They are all good actors on their own but they did not blend well in good taste unlike the Kapampangan dishes which draw more attention than the actors' scenes and dialogues. The sudden shift of the victim's family in terms of their character from being resentful to being employed by Alfredo's family is just so poorly developed and unrealistically portrayed which makes one think that it was just a dream; but the movie ended without any of the characters waking up from it. It was disorienting. The highlight of the acting was when Rafael confessed to Nita that he was the real culprit. The scene was touching. But the script and poor portrayal of the logical consequence of such confession was again not clearly developed and everything went downhill from there. The frequent camera panning on Chedeng's malevolent facial expressions already speaks of dark foreboding but as to her motive which led to such ending was again, not clearly established. Could such plot happen in reality? Who knows but this film definitely failed to make it convincing, believable and "unique" if this is one of their intentions. On a positive note, the portrayal of Kapampangan's dishes is commendable. Brillante Mendoza can do more than this.
