I read the book and believed it was an excellent evaluation of front line combat. I have only see the first episode and yes it was preachy but it accomplished what was designed to do. Why we fight was a real question.

Soul is not exactly clear on its metaphorical perspective, but it tries to explain the reality of the metaphysical in our universe. It mixes numerous myths, religious views, and current New Age thoughts into a soft, mushy mess but who cares. The characters, the cat, and the music allows it rise above these issues to create an interesting and entertaining movie. However, let's be clear, this is NOT a child's film but one aimed at helping us mortals rise above this current mess of the pandemic, have a laugh or two, and receive a message that live is worth live every moment that we are granted, even if that moment is sitting on the subway or watching a seed fall into our open hands. Enjoy and don't think too much or critically as you sit seeing beauty in the colors on the screen and listen to JAZZ!
