To start with, amazing acting. That’s what saves it from a 1 star. I’m a big fan of the Broadway show. I’m a big fan of the OG movie. I’m a big fan of the book. Despite what some reviewers this isn’t any of those. They cut some great songs for seemingly no reason. Some have already mentioned this was for time, but they added stuff that wasn’t needed. What’s more, by cutting these particular scenes and songs they all cut a lot of character development for the parents and for ms honey. One reviewer compared this to the golden age of broadway movie musicals but I disagree. Strongly. This felt like a cash grab by Netflix bastardizing not 1, not 2, but 3 different source material options to the point of just wasting my time with a somehow weak plot. But again, good job to the cast. You did your best to save this.
