This book was an insight to the perspective of a white child and the questions the child may have that the parents were too afraid to discuss. The reality of the situation is so severe that it's shameful to talk about even with her own child. (We all know that. Most just won't to admit it.) The child wants to know more about racism, but the parents don't feel they can talk about it.
This book is needed. When people can get their head wrapped around systemic racism and how white privilege greatly affects others, they will be mature enough to read this book. Oh ya. This book is rated RI (Racially Insulated). If you are not racially insulated I can understand why you can't read the book. It's hard to read about how brutal humans have treated each other--and how they still do.
It's really sad to see how many people are not RI. Don't believe the low rating people. This book is truly insightful well meaning and well timed. Stop lying to yourself. Stop lying to your kids. Stay woke!
