This is GODZILLA (aka The Big G) as we know and love him. Which means a couple of things:
(1) It's a great Godzilla movie, firmly seated in the Toho tradition. There are so many Easter eggs and references to the 65-years-and counting franchise that longtime fans will have a blast. Mothra and Ghidorah look spectacular, as well.
(2) No it's not a good movie - cardboard characters, dumb dialogue, a nickel's worth of plot - but is that what we're coming for? Well, we never did before and we're delighted by all the monster mayhem and the current renditions of the Toho menagerie.
(3) As a native Bostonian and a longtime fan, I am honored to see my city destroyed by four of the greatest monsters in movie history. We wanted to renovate Fenway Park, anyway.
