Casting is the best I've ever seen in a spin off, prequel, or sequel. Sets are enchanting, scenery is breathtaking, costumes are perfection.
The script itself...really fell short in the first 2 - 3 episodes. It felt like things were happening just because they were happening, with no context. Claire's parents go through the stones and don't even seem to find it odd. No one finds them different or puzzling. They just somehow seamlessly exist in another time. Little is made of them attempt to find one another.
Brian and Ellen say hi and go from strangers to deeply in love. Not in a "soul mate" way but in a " we have to throw these to together without wasting time for production sake" kind of way.
But, even still, I love it. Despite the rushed beginning the relationship between Brian and Ellen (Jamie's parents) becomes beautiful, believable and has amazing chemistry and makes it all worth watching.
Slow start but I'm looking forward to watching more and hope it's only the beginning of more from the Outlander series.
