JULIAN MITCHELL

I enjoyed the historical perspective of this series. I would have expected Thomas Cromwell to have had a more dominant personality. Mark Rylance portrayed him as a brooding, Machiavellian figure. Maybe he was but as a portrayal on screen he was slightly boring. Timothy Spall stole the acting accolades for me. The sets were mostly indoors and the lack of other outdoor filming made it rather tedious watching. Good but not great adaptation.
