Good show. Overall good acting, good pacing, and decent camerawork. Not to mention a very important story to tell. But the editing was infantile, and I found Edie's character borderline unlikable. She's condescending and rude to almost everyone she meets and just has nothing to her. Her tragic back story is instantly dismembered by the conversations with her brother in prison, lording some sort of moral superiority over him instead of trying to help him or move forward in any sort of way. Not to mention that scene with Shannon in the cafe. Christ almighty, so off-putting and it wouldn't be such a problem if she wasn't one of the main characters and half of our narrative/emotional connection with the story. Luckily the tragic story of Greg and his family helps (painfully and brilliantly) carry the emotional weight and keep us invested. If it were solely from Edie's perspective/narration along with Pharmadue's I think I'd have a tough time engaging with it. Solid show, worth watching if only to learn about the horrible story, but found it hard to connect to.
