Spielberg’s Westside Story is one of the truly worse things I’ve ever sat through in my living room. Instead of remaking good movies why don’t producers and directors remake bad movies? Starting from 1973 to now there are plenty to choose from. Making any movie “woke” is ignorant. How could Spielberg explain in the song “America” Anita laments about Puerto Rico and in the same song sing about how happy she is to have abandoned it for the United States mainland?! The original lyrics were perfect even though the original 1961 movie ( and only real one) was not well received because the story was esoteric this travesty of Spielberg’s changing the original lyrics to suit no one makes the original as great as “Gone With The Wind”! The ONLY good thing about Spielberg’s horribly adapted version is the great, talented and beautiful Rita Moreno. PERIOD
