A fast and furious read, caustic calculated bad bargain husband and the woman who gaslit herself. The woman is intelligent, capable, aware, conscientious; a paragon of virtues both personal and professionally, and yet she still gets caught by a needy negligent nonentity. Its a very good read indeed because heterosexual relationships are not compatible with personal growth unless both parties are mature and caring people. One does not have to have a mate who is quite such an abysmally selfish loser to get the point of this novel. One thing though; Jane was weing not to put her cat to sleep when her health failed and she was miaouwing in agony. That was deeply wrong.
