I thoroughly enjoy this program as it highlights both lighthearted subjects and serious matters. This past Sunday had a particular interest to me, featuring Mt. Airy, N.C., the original Mayberry. My wife and I visited that town when we lived in North Carolina for a short time. It was nice to see how the Andy Griffith show evolved from this small town. However this featured article was ruined, in my opinion, by Ted Koppel's insensitive reporting by bringing up the issue of Trump, the election, and January 6th insurrection, and was totally out of line. It took away from the story line, the simple life, and complicated it with the complex issues not of that day. I was especially discusted by the short interview on the trolly car, asking about voter fraud, Trump supporters or Biden supporters. His insensitivity was ill timed. Two comments presented in the trolly car was how people are not watching news because the media can't be trusted and the last gentleman to speak did say how the tour was about the reflection of a simpler time, not to be complicated by today's issues. I've seen Mr. Kopples insensitivity in other articles and feel his approach is not welcome and he should not be on this program, in other words, fired.
