I wouldn't say this qualifies as a horror movie more than a psychological thriller, and even that label is pretty inaccurate.
However, the color-scheme? Amazing, in my opinion. The cinematography was very nice as well. The whole film gives off this warm, mystic feeling, albeit somewhat a somewhat unsettling atmosphere at some points.
Regardless if you're cisgender, gay, straight, or trans, despite the audience it clearly reaches for (queer people in general), I think you might find meaning in it as well. Some parts may be hard to understand at first, but engaging in conversation and thinking back to what you watched can help stir up theories and fill in whatever blanks you think have arose.
I feel as if the ratings calling this the "worst movie they've ever seen" are very harsh and if this is THE worst one? Well, I wish I saw the same movies you have.
The film itself is pretty slow-paced and extremely abstract; it's very easy for aspects of it to fly over one's head while watching it, and if you look away for a moment? Ya' might lose the whole plot.
However, I think the experience it conveys, the theme of self-identity, finding yourself again after you've done everything you could to beat it down until you feel just as empty as everything around you, escapism, etc. hits close to home.
