For being a Mario fan, this movie was amazing on one condition (in my opinion). The blue Lumalee. Many people seem to like the Blue lumalee because of his looks and his dark humor made people laugh but for me….it didn’t feel right. You see, ever since I was 12 or 13 years old, I was starting to have an existential crisis on where we go when we die. The thing is, I believe in god but it all started when I saw a video on the Cyanide and Happiness channel. It was about a grandpa who died in the hospital and when he woke up for a few seconds, he saw just nothing. Just a void. And that got me really scared about real life and I thought it was over and I tried to stop thinking about it and I did. And that’s when The Super Mario Bros. Movie comes in. If you would’ve remembered the scene at the end of the film, The Blue Lumalee said, “Now that’s a happy ending. Or is it? Because everything’s over now and all that’s left is you and the infinite void.” Look I get it! Lumalee is supposed to be funny for grownups but when Lumalee just said that to the audience, I just felt a bit scared again about life. I was smiling at the whole movie but at the end credits where the blue Lumalee is, for some reason, I STILL had the urge to smile at that scene. It’s like that my body was telling me to be nervous but it couldn’t stop me. I feel so wrong about smiling at that scene. It’s just that I’ve been a Mario fan for 14 years and seeing all the characters, easter eggs, animation, etc. brought me a BUNCH of nostalgia! But when the blue Lumalee is talking about “Voids and Darkness”, that gets me scared about what life really is. I’m sorry that I scared you with this comment. I just wanna know if all the stuff that Lumalee said was lying because like I said, “I believe in god”. I believe in heaven! I believe in the light! I was just going through some stuff and Lumalee made my anxiety a little worse for wear. Overall, I really LOVE The Super Mario Bros. Movie! And I’m glad that it’s making a lot of money in the box office! So much so, that they’ve announced a sequel! But if Lumalee is in it, You can make Lumalee have some dark humor in The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2. Just please, please, PLEASE don’t make him to talk about voids and Darkness to the characters and the audience! That would make me even MORE nervous! I hope all of you guys understand and thanks for listening.
