Next gen game that feels something that could have been produced years ago. I was so excited when I saw there was going to be an avatar game, like many, I saw the trailer after watching the newest avatar movie and I was so looking forward to a game within this world. I am however sadly underwhelmed and disappointed. This is the world of the avatar movies, movies that were groundbreaking in visuals and complexity. The game doesn’t not reflect that at all. This is no different from any other far cry type game. The story is incredibly dull, which is not helped by the ridiculous, goofy first person perspective through all story scenes. It makes your character feel silly, clunky and espérate from the world. I feel like a floating camera. You get no sense of environment, the dialogue is forgettable and boring. And the gameplay? Have fun doing more of the usual, saturation of the typical “take out this base then you can fast travel there”. I find myself getting frustrated playing simply because all I can think of is the potential a game like this could have had and how quickly that potential has been wasted. To charge so much for a game like this when you have games like red dead redemption and other open worlds that do it 1000x better for the same price is insane, the only saving grace this game had was the ability to play co op.

I know the majority will have an absolute unfathomable adoration towards studio ghibli but I’m one of those people who find that’s movies hit or miss, I absolutely love some and find other a little boring an admittedly tedious. That didn’t stop me watching this one though, I was so worried I was going to be bored or not enjoy the movie but I was pleasantly surprised. The movie felt engaging and intriguing, I found it funny and light at part but the movie definitely held a deep meaning which made it special. My one and only issue was I did find elements rather confusing, whether that was because some parts were lost in translation or perhaps I just need to watch it again to pick up on things I missed, I’m not sure.
