I remember this book from elementary school in the 80s. In retrospect, I can't believe my school library even carried it along with many of those anthology series books by Time Life, "Mysteries of the Unknown". It was intriguing, and my young mind wasn't so young. I was an old soul, so books like that were never scary, they just made me curious of what was possible. I wish I had a copy of this one.
