I didn't have high expectations going into this as someone who revered the orginal Silent Hill 2 game (and still do!) but I'm happy to say they nailed it. Well done Blooper team.
The remake retains the atmosphere and tone of the orginal for the most part, it doesnt hit as hard as the orginal for me in some aspects but I can look past that, I never expected it to be on the same level as the orginal and it isn't. The orginal was lighting in a bottle, the greatest horror game ever made, one of a kind, I'm glad the remake doesn't follow it beat for beat and dares to tell the story in its own way to a degree. Obviously I won't go into it for spoiler reasons.
The graphics and audio are incredible, headphones are required, performance could be better with frame drops on the Playstation 5 when there's a lot going on but this game is a slow burner, you should take your time and not run around.
The remake has a lengthy enough playtime, around the 25 hour mark if you're taking it slow like I did but I seldom got bored of it. The combat is 'meh' but the orginals combat wasn't anything to write home about either, the puzzles were pretty good though and again different from the orginal.
All in all, the remake is a respectful adaptation of the Orginal Silent Hill 2 game, I thoughly enjoyed my time with it and I'm on my second playthrough and I'm probably going to go for the platnum trophy in the long run, it deserves your time if you want a terrifying deep experience that is a modern take on one of the greatest games ever made.
In my restless dreams, I see that town.
