The Corona virus quarantine(2020) saw the binge-watch content scavenger in me. Tried many popular series, but most of them were dramas and other stuff. The list for sitcoms were surprisingly few. Most of them were too generic. I have seen some episodes of "The Big Bang Theory" prior to binge watching the entire show. But i was surprised how well the events unfolded in the entire series, kudos to the writers. Yeah there were some jokes which were misogynistic, but none of them seemed to cross the limits.
A show's backbone is its cast (and of course the story line). The entire cast lived through their characters, a thing that's rare to come by. Jim Parsons, Jhonny Galecki and Mayim Bialik are my personal picks as some of the finest performances in the show. Even the chemistry between all the characters were real, it had the zing from the beginning. Another actor that does require a special mention is late Carol Ann Susi, despite not appearing physically, made many memorable scenes.
All the main and supporting cast did justice to their roles. Also the cameos of legends like Stephen Hawking,Stan Lee, Bill Nye, William Shatner, Elon Musk, Bill Gates made it special too.
One interesting to note is TBBT features Sheldon as more childlike, egoistic, self centered; Shledon in the prequel series "The Young Sheldon" seems to be more mature, despite being 9 years old.
The story line entwined flawlessly with the random scenarios of each episode. The characters too served the purposed a non of them felt unnecessary. It may not be a masterpiece, but a better one in its own.
The show ended gracefully, without unnecessary hulabaloos. It ended without breaking too many hearts, but tears of joy tumbled during the final render of the theme song as a melody.
All in all, a recommended piece of content to loosen out your muscles and somethings that you can easily co-relate to if you have nerds as a part of "the other family".
