The mechanics are extremely inconsistent: half the time is just a matter of luck of the draw. Also, why on earth would you give the crossbowman a portable shield to hide behind, but every time I'm behind it and try to reload, it picks up the shield instead? Also, the tool tips say everywhere, only shields can block projectiles. Yet, I've seen a dozen Aragorn moments where someone uses a long sword to block an arrow. Maybe some mechanic not mentioned anywhere, but...
The matchmaking is very unbalanced. I can't count the amount of times a team gets steam rolled, and it's always the same players on the opposing team. At least pair the teams with a smattering of similarly ranked players?
I really enjoyed the game in the first few hours. The immersion is phenomenal, and feeling involved in huge-scale battles is a very fun experience, but it's not enough to ride on for the entire play, once the newness wears off and all of the frustrating technical issues begin to show up. This game does have potential to be great. It's just not there yet.
I got this game for free, through the PSN games of the month deal. I would rate 1 star if I had paid money for it.
