I was excited to read about this book. 200 pages into it, I'm not sure what I've learned except a lot of animals were mutilated for uncertain findings. I don't find the sketches of the 4 pioneers compelling. I think the author would've fared better by focusing on one, Dement, the jazz bassist, at Stanford during turbulent and eye-opening times. (Kesey et al). And then flashing back to the groundbreakers. Still hopeful about the last 100 pages.
