Just awful. I LOVED “Get Out” and thought it should have won an Oscar for best picture. I’ve seen it 3 times and it gets better with every viewing. So I went to see US with my 16 year old son with a great sense of anticipation. I REALLY wanted to love Peele’s second film but it was silly and hamfisted, and the few attempts at humor (which worked so brilliantly in “Get Out”) were flat and obvious (the Alexa jokes while Elizabeth Moss is having her throat slit) and the “Sixth Sevse” twist ending was like “No Way Out” when Kevin Costner turns out have actually been a Russian spy all along i— too clever by half. And the fathers role was so flat and uninteresting. It felt like because Peele’s first film was so original and acclaimed no one around him this time dared to point out all the (Numerous!) logic gaps (300 million red jump suits and 300 million gold scissors??). My son and I burst out laughing at some of the absurd over the top horror because it was so silly. A real disappointment.
