Top Gun Maverick
Top Gun Maverick lived up to the hype in the second action packed sequel. I am glad I watched this movie on the big screen especially for the second part of the movie when the actual mission was in full swing. After almost a month since the release date, the theatre was still at 90% capacity in this post pandemic world. A good movie to encourage more big screen attendance as I can assess.
As for a potential threequel, I'd like to see less macho scenes with the new generation of pilots. Some of the scenes were far fetched to say there least but it was still very entertaining. I would like to see a threequel which focuses more on internal and domestic issues even within the executive branch. Not to get political, but the audience needs to be aware that the external threat portrayed in the sequel is not the most realistic scenario. Focus on internal division leading up to 2024 and beyond and how that translates for the future regardless which side of the aisle you sit on.
On the plus side, Maverick did acknowledge that drones and autonomous aircraft are the future. People will still watch these type of movies if you keep it realistic. All in all, three most entertaining movie I have seen this year.
