Pamela Anderson is perfectly cast, her acting is fabulous and genuinely moving as she struggles with what it means to age in a profession where only beauty matters. The rest of the cast are also excellent (apart from, bizarrely, Jamie Lee Curtis who overacts her character into cliche). Where the movie struggles, and it does struggle, is the writing and direction. The shaky-camera is irritating, but Iโll forgive the director that as some other directorial choices are great. But more importantly the story never brings any of its themes to a conclusion, in particular one character does a complete u-turn with zero explanation, and the movie ends startlingly suddenly as if they ran out of time. A shame. The movie also takes far too long to get going. But it is haunting โslice of lifeโ movie that could have been Oscar territory if the story structure problems had been fixed. If you want action or clear plotlines avoid this movie, if you want atmosphere and haunting nostalgia absolutely see it.
