Ive never been a fan of found footage type movies because I dont like the shakiness, but luckily, that isnt what the whole movie is.
The acting was pretty mid and at times bad. Alot of cliche lines like "we have to get out of here!" And "thanks for the history lesson, but we need to find a way out of here if we're going to live" were scattered throughout the movie, which made me roll my eyes. The characters were flat and uninteresting, to the point where I wasnt even upset when the protags boyfriend died. If that doesnt speak volumes, I dont know what will.
Common sense was lacking too. I could nit-pick, but its your standard horror movie logic we're all used to seeing. There were some things that made absolutely no sense, like the father getting his entire heart ripped but a few minutes later, hes tied to a post and screaming as he's watching his soul get weighed, or the fact that the last 2 survivors are talking at full volume voices as if they dont have to worry about Anubis hearing them. Just bad. Also, them abandoning their masks despite the smell and risk of there being poisonous fumes was a dead giveaway that the rest of the movie was going to be a sh!tshow.
Final verdict, its not a movie id watch again nor a movie id recommend. Just watch the Mummy 1&2 with Brendan Fraiser if youre in the mood for Egyptian horror
