An engaging and mysterious series, with a lot of the pull of Stranger Things but with older 30-something characters. "Muriel, you're slightly terrifying." - Toni Colette I thought at first the central character Alex was the son\daughter of Laura, then we saw the two are together which was umexpected, must have missed then explain how Laura got pregnant, maybe it's an echo of Rosemary's Baby, or that kind of theme. Don't want to spoil the ending.

Koinaka is a pleasant, short romcom, set in Tokyo and Sendai. The 3 main characters are in a love triangle, then they are seperated suddenly, after growing a little they reconnect. There's deception and coercive control on one side, immaturity and lack of committment from the other, no easy choices. There's a lot of OnePiece references and the characters seem to be loosely modelled on characters from OP. It was pretty odd the missing OP vol.51 was'nt replaced by Aoi, an avid comic collector, in the 7 years since it was published. 🙃

Very nice, sweet but not sacharine like majority of JDramas. The chocolate theme is central to the story, which gives a solid plotline. The ending World Chocolate Competion was nice but didn't sit well with all American influence- where was the Belgian, Swiss, German, Italian, French, Dutch representation -- Americans don't even rate in the global chocolate industry for fine chocolate so that was a weirdly off-tasting. Still the short series is a great watch and light.
